Iraqi army and volunteer forces held a Quran recitation session in Sad al-Azim area in Diyala Governorate, which they have recently recaptured from Daesh (ISIL) terrorists.
The Dar-ol-Quran center of Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) organized the Quranic event, the Astan’s website reported.
A large number of army personnel, security forces and members of the popular volunteer forces, known as Hashd al-Shaabi, attended the program.
The Northern and Western parts of Iraq have been plagued by violence ever since the Daesh terrorists began an offensive through the Iraqi territory in June 2014.
Iraqi army soldiers and popular forces have won back many major parts of occupied regions in joint operations.
